John Gotanda

John Gotanda is the Arthur J. Kania Dean and Professor of Law at Villanova University School of Law.  He has previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Faculty Research, and Director of the J.D./M.B.A. Program.

He has published widely on the subject of damages in international law, and has been cited by courts, tribunals and commentators, including most recently by the U.S. Supreme Court.  He has spoken widely on the subjects of damages and the CISG, including at the Hague Academy of International Law, Gray’s Inn in London (at the invitation of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law), and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. He also serves as an expert on damages and an arbitrator in international investment disputes.

He is a member of the Advisory Council of the United Nations Conventions on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, an Associate Member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law, and the Co-Editor of The Journal of Damages in International Arbitration.
